About Us- Who we are..

Anna Behnke

Anna Behnke is originally from Scotland and has worked in different countries as an Occupational Therapist. Qualified in 1995 with a postgraduate in Occupational Therapy from London University she began specialist training in Paediatrics in 1996. By 1997 she had experience working with children 0-19 years of age with a wide range of special needs. In 1998 she moved to the north of England to work with children with Co-ordination Difficulties. She completed several recognised courses and started to develop joint in-service training for other therapists working with this client group. In 1998 she qualified for her American Occupational Therapy Certificate and in 1999 travelled and worked in Australia with a variety of client groups. In 2000 she moved back to England to continue her paediatric work gaining further qualifications and, in 2001, moved back to Scotland to develop the OT service for children with Co-ordination Difficulties in Renfrewshire. She regularly presents and trains professionals on aspects of the condition and is a recognised member of the leading groups concerned with this condition and its research. She is also completing her Masters project in Software Development to develop training programmes for worldwide use. Anna is now living in Australia and works in private practice, specialising in sensory processing assessment, treatment and training particularly for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Lucie Fontana

Lucie Fontana qualified from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh in 1996 with a BSc Honours in Occupational Therapy. Her honours dissertation examined the use of standardised assessments by paediatric occupational therapists in Scotland. Lucie initially worked at a special school for children with complex needs. Lucie then worked within Community Paediatrics where she gained experience working with children aged 0-19 with a variety of additional support needs, including Co-ordination Difficulties. She also undertook recognised training courses on treatment approaches and Sensory Integration in particular, and provided in-service training in both special and mainstream schools. In 2001 Lucie started to develop an NHS Paediatric Occupational Therapy Service in Inverclyde, specialising in children/young people with co-ordination difficulties. She was also involved in setting up the Skylark Child Development Centre in Inverclyde. In 2003 Lucie returned to Community Paediatrics, initially specialising in Developmental Co-ordintion Disorder (DCD) and later working with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In conjunction with a PE specialist Lucie developed and researched the HEADSTART co-ordination programme. Lucie was part of the UK wide research of an OT treatment package for children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Lucie has a special interest in children/young people with behavioural difficulties. Lucie continues to work within the NHS and privately and is a member of the Children, Young People & Families (CYPF) special interest group for Paediatric Occupational Therapists, and the Occupational Therapists in Independent Practice special interest group.
